21st June 2001- 30th July 2025
Cherished and much-loved daughter of Juliet and David, sister to Benjamin and Daniel.
Bethany (Bee) died unexpectedly in Lombok, Indonesia on 30th July 2025, whilst working in shark conservation, a cause close to her heart.
Since she was a teenager, she was passionate about protecting the marine environment and its ecosystems from further exploitation, and after studying biology at Oxford had planned a career where she would be contributing to improving our understanding of sharks, particularly the megamouth, and working to prevent further decline in shark numbers. She was due to start her PhD in Marine Biology at Southampton University with a focus on ecology and conservation of sharks in the Western Indian Ocean.
Bethany is greatly missed by her family, by her many friends and her colleagues in the marine biology world.
In honour of Bethany’s memory, the family would welcome donations to either of these two charities which were important to Bethany.

Bethany was working for this charity when she passed. They work with local shark fisherman in Lombok, Indonesia to encourage them to leave shark fishing and work in eco-tourism instead. They also work to improve the educational opportunities of the shark fishing community.
