The funeral service that caters for everyone’s needs

Julia Ann Sedgwick-Smith

(4th May 1938 - 21st December 2023)

In loving memory of Julia Ann Sedgwick-Smith who passed away peacefully at Epsom Hospital on 21st December 2023, aged 85 years.

Julia (who preferred to be called ‘Julie’) was the amazing matriarch of the extended Wright, Palmer and Sedgwick-Smith families. She was the glue that kept the families bonded together with love. She was simply the best. ❤️

Julie was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, step mother, nan, aunt and great grand mother.

She was a ray of sunshine who lit up the room wherever she went. She was funny, kind, thoughtful, caring, down to earth and an inspiration to all. She loved family gatherings, parties, dancing and drinking the occasional glass of red wine!

Julie was loved and revered by a wide circle of life long friends and former work colleagues. She will be sadly missed.

Julie’s funeral Service will take place at the North East Surrey Crematorium, Lower Morden Lane, Morden. Surrey, SM4 4NU at 3.20pm on Wednesday 7th February 2024. Dress code – please supplement with something pink or cobalt blue.

By request, family flowers only please. Donations can be made on the Just Giving section on this page to ‘British Heart Foundation’ or sent to Alan Greenwood & Sons, 25, The Street, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 1AA. A donation box will also be available in the Crematorium Chapel.

A Few Kind Words...

“I would like to say a huge thank you to both Carina at Alan Greenwood and Sons in Frimley and the Celebrant. When my mother-in-law passed, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing other than needing to contact a funeral directors. After calling, Carina invited us into the Frimley branch for an informal chat and made us feel at ease straight away. She talked us through every step whilst being compassionate, caring and professional during the whole process. It was a difficult time that was made so much easier by the way Carina and Maria handled everything. When the Celebrant contacted us we were unsure of what we wanted for the service, with his knowledge and understanding he helped us to put together a service that was both relaxed, professional and perfectly suited to us. Thank you to the whole team!”

“How can we say thank you for all you did to make Robert (Bob’s) funeral so lovely? We felt you worked so hard ,with your company and the Church to make everything so nice. So once again thank you.”

“Just a note to say a huge thank you to yourself and the wonderful team at Send Greenwoods, they took care of us all yesterday at Les Ingram’s funeral. I’ve really valued your help and support over the last few weeks and the wonderful men yesterday went beyond their ‘call of duty’. They were certainly there at our great time of need. Please pass on my thanks to everyone. I also enclose four more donations. Many thanks again.”

“Dear Jo,

Thanks so much for all you did leading up to the funeral. None of us could have got through it without your support.

Dear Mr Alan Greenwood, I cannot thank you and your team in Bookham enough, for the excellent service they provided in every respect in the Cremation of my wife.

Your resident Funeral Consultant Mary fully explained all we needed to understand and advised the options available to us.

Her in depth knowledge of all the service providers including, Order of Service, authors and print selection, Celebrant, Hall and refreshments.

So many things which without her I would have been lost.

In the past few days I have received so very many complements and praise for the service you gave.

Do please allow other potential clients to share our experience.

Yours sincerely

“Would you please pass on our thanks to the young lady who conducted the burial of Joyce Ashby last week. She was so kind to Jean my very elderly cousin especially on the ride back in the Limo taking us through Richmond Park and chatting all the way. We then went on to have a family picnic in Jean’s garden in the sunshine a lovely way to remember Joyce and the perfect day for Jean. Very many thanks from all of us in North Wales.”

Sheila, Keith & Rhoada Ashby

“As a family we cannot thank you enough for all your care and support of us on the passing of our mum – Peggy Hart on October 19th and her funeral on October 31st. As we know from the past, you do a wonderful job and all the staff are so caring and compassionate. Carol you are a rock (dare I say Star!) as you guided us through so much and helped keep us on track.

The day went off so smoothly and well. Mum looked good and would have so enjoyed her last ride in the jag! Also she would have been pleased at Alan leading the way, as Dad – Bill thought so highly of him and always spoke of him in glowing terms when he was alive and said he was a great guy to work with.

Thank you, thank you, what more can I say. I just wish you had offices in Canada so when my time comes, I know I would be in such excellent caring hands.”

Maggie & Mike Raftery

“Thank you so much for the care, support, compassion and understanding you showed with helping Chris and us to plan his funeral. You made a very difficult time for us more bearable for which we are very grateful. Thank you also for enabling all Chris’s plans to come to fruition. His ‘send-off’ was exactly what he wanted. Malcolm did a brilliant job too. Thank you, Jane, With love and sincere, thank you.”

Kathy, Samantha, Rosie and all the Sayer Family

“Thank you so much for the way you took care of Loui’s funeral for us. You really went the extra mile, we are really grateful for all your help with the arrangements with Louis and Mum.”
